Ballet
Our ballet program follows the ADAPT Ballet Syllabus, which culminates in a Performance Exam. This exam is designed like a mini-showcase, where parents are invited to observe their children demonstrate their classroom training in a formal setting.
This approach allows instructors to incorporate more artistry and creativity into lessons, fostering an atmosphere of theatre craft within the ballet style.
Jazz and Modern Dance
In our Jazz and Modern Dance classes, we follow the ADAPT Syllabus. This curriculum exposes students to a wide range of dynamic movements, building upon a foundation of ballet technique while embracing a more versatile and expressive style.
Our instructor, Laurie, loves to incorporate a strong Latin flair and a funky style into her teaching. She also encourages students to express their individuality. If a student shows an interest in slow, emotive music, Laurie will often follow that preference when creating solos or class choreography.
Acrobatics
We use the Acrobatic Arts syllabus from Canada, which emphasizes mobility. This means we focus on developing flexibility within a strong, stable body to prevent injuries.
Laurie's teaching style encourages children to master various poses and holds that are not only beautiful to watch, but also require body awareness, strength, and flexibility. This approach also pushes students to embrace their creativity and artistry.
Hip Hop
Our Style of Hip Hop incorporates…….. Body Popping, Animation and Theatrics to create an animated look in Hip Hop, we embrace Famous Hip Hop Moves and Street Dance Style which advocates for versatile Choreography and dancing to Pop Music
We incorporate Basic Break Dance Floorwork and Spins and Turns of a Tricking Nature which is an attribute Being implemented more so in Break Dance.
Tricking uses martial arts kicks, jumps and turns to create Dancer Tricks to display in their routines.
Tap Dancing
We use the ADAPT Tap Syllabus, which focuses on rhythm, style, and musical theatre.
What does this mean for our students? It means we're more concerned with the entertainment aspect of tap dance. We focus on creating rhythms, developing characterization, and building performance value so that every routine is as engaging to watch as it is to listen to.
Cross Training
In classes with extended training times, our instructor Laurie integrates specialized equipment and fun, vestibular exercises on mats. These drills and activities are specifically designed to help children develop the fundamental dance techniques needed for rotations, speed, and strength.
These drills do more than just build rotations, speed, and core strength; they're also a fun and mentally engaging way to reinforce fundamental dance techniques.
