At Laurie Active, we define a meditative state as being completely absorbed in the present moment of an activity. Specifically, we focus on activities you genuinely enjoy, have a strong interest in, and are motivated to improve at. These activities also have a holistic health application for your body. We believe that true meditation isn't about sitting still with your eyes closed, trying to clear your mind. Instead, our goal is for you to be so immersed in the activity that you think of nothing else. This state of "being lost in the moment" comes from the artistry of the movement, the feeling it gives you, the freedom of moving to music, and the awakening of your muscle strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Ultimately, our goal is to help you become a strong, beautiful mover and dancer within the scope of health and fitness

HOW WE INCORPORATE GYM WORK
Dance Class
The first 15 minutes of our 6:30 PM dance classes on Tuesday and Thursday are dedicated to building a strong foundation. We focus on exercises for your legs, including glute strength training, lunges, and squats, all with an emphasis on correct body alignment to prevent injury. We finish the class with a deep stretch and planks to help build a strong, firm core.
Therapeutic Stretch & Strength
This class is designed to build strength and improve your posture. Using weights and exercises like arm rows, we target your arms, shoulders, and back, helping you feel strong and stand taller. This is part of the interval training that we incorporate between our fundamental class offerings.
